Benefits of Optomap
The optomap ultra-widefield retinal imaging machine is available to patients at each of our offices. Our doctors recommend having optomap images taken annually because these images capture 80% or more of your retina, while traditional methods only provide your doctor with a view of 15% of your retina.
The optos images don't require dilation and the process only takes a few minutes. These images help your doctor to see any signs of disease like macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, retinal detachment, melanoma, and hypertension. Because images are saved digitally, doctors are able to compare images from different exams to see if there have been changes over the years.
